ANARKISS is a queer community rooted in collaboration, defiance, and the belief that art remains one of the most powerful tools for resistance.

Founded in 2024 by Lisa Fouweather (L), ANARKISS began as a space for marginalised artists to see their work in print. The first issue was a handful of pages haphazardly sellotaped together – DIY in every sense of the word. Since then, ANARKISS has continued to grow, publishing the work of more than 500 queer artists.

Through poetry, essays, visual art, and experimental work, ANARKISS centres LGBTQIA+ creatives while celebrating DIY culture and collective liberation.

OUR STORY

ANARKISS was born out of frustration with the barriers that shape the literary world — the feeling that opportunity is too often determined by who you know rather than what you create.

What began as a DIY publishing project quickly became a growing community of queer artists, writers, photographers, and troublemakers determined to create space for one another.

Every issue brings together LGBTQIA+ creatives working across queer culture, kink, and sex work.

Our open submissions policy welcomes contributors from around the world. Whether you’re a poet, photographer, essayist, illustrator, graphic designer, or working in a medium all your own, ANARKISS exists to help bring your work into print.

We champion human creativity. Work created using AI will not be considered for publication.

Because anarchism isn’t only rage; it’s also care, desire, creation, and community.

ANARKISS lives in the tension between breaking and blooming. It is a reminder that resistance can be tender without losing its teeth, and that imagining another world is already an act of rebellion.

Art as protest. Poems as barricades. Bodies as manifestos.

Words that unbuild the world and begin again.

ANARKISS is an invitation.

Come closer. Unlearn. Remake.
